Latest News - January 2012. I am pleased to announce that I have now been accredited by the EMDR Association ( http://www.emdrassociation.org.uk ) and so am now an Accredited EMDR Practitioner. Accredited Practitioners are recognised as having demonstrated their competence in the practice of EMDR under supervision of an EMDR Consultant and their details are listed on the Association's website.
Thank you for visiting my website. I hope you will find my site useful and informative, both about me and how I work as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist. The decision to seek counselling or psychotherapy can be daunting so if you have any further questions please phone 01242 210934 during office hours ( 9 - 5.30 ) or 01242 603966 at other times. Alternatively please email me by visiting the contact section of the website.
I treat depression, low self-esteem, phobias, and anxiety disorders such as obsessive compulsive disorder ( OCD ), panic disorder and social anxiety. My special interest is post traumatic stress disorder ( PTSD ) and complex trauma. Complex post traumatic stress disorder ( C-PTSD ) is a syndrome that follows trauma that has been repeated and prolonged. It is often seen in combat veterans, rape victims and survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
I have an MSc ( Distinction ) in Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy and am also an accredited member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (www.babcp.com). Please click on the links if you wish to check if a therapist is accredited. The benefits of a BABCP accredited practitioner are that it ensures an adherence to the BABCP's standards of conduct, performance and ethics in the practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies.
I am also the sole author of the following paper. 'An examination of structural dissociation of the personality and the implications for cognitive behavioural therapy.' It was published in June 2011 via Cambridge Journals, in the peer reviewed journal, The Cognitive Behaviour Therapist.

"Thank you so much for your help and support over the past year. It seems mad that I had a whole lifetime of misery and within a year I'm better. You have enabled me to become the 'real' me at last and I know from your support, I am now able to be content with myself. I know that this will not only be beneficial to me but also for my family. I know you say I did the work, but me doing this was only possible because I had your help and support." - Stacey
